School Clubs

  • Student Council - During high school, I have learned to become much more involved within our student council, a very important club among the many at South Lyon East. I have helped to plan important dances like homecoming and prom as well as helping to set up major functions that involve homecoming, such as the pep rallies, spirit week, and the annual decorating of our school's hallways. Student Council also organizes the Pink Out every year, an important day in October dedicated to breast cancer.

  • National Honors Society - My academic history has allowed me to be a part of the National Honors Society. I involve myself in plenty of volunteering opportunities to help within our school as well as in the community; it has given me a way to lend a helping hand to those who need it.

Sports

  • Swimming - Aside from in-school activities, my passion for sports gave me something enjoyable to do aside from academics. I had played softball growing up, but soon grew away from it to pursue swimming. I swam for South Lyon Aquatics for many years until joining the high school's swim team in which we won the conference title in 2015 and 2017. I worked tirelessly to achieve my goals throughout my experience with sports, and it has brought me tremendous learning experience. Not only was I a part of a very successful sports team, but I gained friendships along the way that will last a lifetime.

Volunteering

  • Vacation Bible School - I volunteered at my church with the kindergarten classes and helped to guide the children to places they needed to be. I spent the day with them for a week to keep them company and allowed them to have a fun and enjoyable experience.

  • Relay for Life - Myself and my swim team helped raise over $7,000 for my swim coach, Mr. Bob Crosby, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2016. We spent at least 12 hours together, along with many other groups of people, to help raise awareness for multiple cancers.

  • Red Cross Blood Drive -  I assisted during the annual blood drive at school to help donors return safely to their classes.

  • Nursing Home - I volunteered at the local nursing home in South Lyon to keep the elderly company. Whether it be serving them dinner or playing games with them, I made sure they all felt right at home.

  • Cleaning up Detroit - I provided assistance among many others to help clean up the neighborhoods of Detroit while fixing up the landscaping, picking up litter, and talking with families living in the area.
